About Me — Gilda Kiwua Notarbartolo

Hi there! I’m Gilda Kiwua Notarbartolo, a certified journalist, storyteller, and the founder of Italian Girl Touch. Born in Naples, Italy, and now based in Cambridge, UK, I live at the intersection of writing, filmmaking, photography, and personal growth. This space was created to bring together everything I love: creativity, self‑development, and the beauty that surrounds us every day.

My background

I hold a degree in Communication Science from the University Suor Orsola Benincasa, where my thesis explored the power of irony in advertising. I later earned a Master’s in Film and TV Production at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, with a dissertation titled Music First, a deep dive into Quentin Tarantino’s iconic use of music in cinema.

Before founding Italian Girl Touch, I spent several years as Manager at La Dante in Cambridge, a European cultural centre dedicated to promoting Italian, Spanish, and English language and heritage, and as Head of Radio Dante, where I coordinated editorial projects, interviews, and cultural programming. These experiences deepened my passion for cultural storytelling and community‑driven communication.

My documentary Enlightened Windows, filmed in Cambridge, pays tribute to artistic vision and visual storytelling, inspired by Edward Hopper, Hitchcock’s Rear Window, and photographers like Gail Albert Halaban and Michael Wolf.

In addition to Enlightened Windows, I completed a visual project dedicated to The Castle of Otranto, filmed across two symbolic locations: Horace Walpole’s Strawberry Hill House in the UK and the town of Otranto in Apulia, where the novel’s spirit still lingers.
